Job Description

 

The Human Resources Associate of the Catherine Hershey Schools for Early Learning will support the HR Department at the Central Office in Hershey. This position will assist administratively with development, implementation, and administration of HR policies and procedures across the CHS Centers. In collaboration with the Central Office Recruiter and the larger HR Department, this individual will assist in coordinating efforts in benefits administration, recruiting, hiring, training of staff and will work to retain high-quality employees to support the CHS mission and vision. This individual will report directly to the CHS Human Resources Manager to discuss updates, progress and issues. Starting pay is in the range of $18.33 - $24.48 per hour, based on expertise.

Responsibilities:

  • Benefits administration duties related to new hire enrollment such as presenting benefits overview at new hire orientation, collecting enrollment documents, and processing new hire enrollments
  • Employee file preparation and maintenance; collecting DHS required items for all employees to ensure compliance
  • Communicating benefit related programs through benefit newsletter on a monthly basis
  • Assisting with HR reporting
  • Supporting activities relating to implementation of CHS’s recruitment and onboarding processes to help attract top talent and retain a high performing workforce.
  • Maintaining the HRIS system with changes for employees related to job status, beneficiary updates, and other required maintenance related to either the organization, government regulations or the software provider
  • Assisting in coordinating the implementation of employee orientation, training programs, compensation & benefits, and professional development programs
  • Coordinating with the Human Resources Manager to address and resolve employee concerns in accordance with applicable policies and employment laws
  • Fostering an environment of positive employee-relations and promoting an open-door policy

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource or related field (preferred)
  • 1-3 years-experience in Human Resources (preferred)
  • Experience using HRIS and ATS systems (preferred, PeopleSoft experience is a plus)
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, leveraging an empathetic and compassionate approach to HR that emphasizes people management
  • PHR certification (preferred)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities  
  • Responsible, enthusiastic, and cares about working in a mission-focused organization
  • Demonstrated understanding of and ability to effectively work with low-income families (preferred)
  • Ability to proactively identify problems and implement solutions
  • Willingness to be held accountable and receive feedback
  • Comfortability with technology including MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and/or willingness to learn
  • Commitment to the mission and values of CHS and MHS and demonstrated high degree of integrity as all MHS and CHS staff are considered to be role models for children
  • U.S. work authorization and successful completion of pre-employment background checks and clearances
