Job Description

 

The CHS Harrisburg Custodian is committed to ensuring the Center is neat, clean and in an orderly condition at all times. This individual is responsible for the building’s appearance by cleaning and disinfecting common areas with light to medium foot traffic, washing of children’s bedding and returned supplemental clothing, cleaning/pickup parking lot and outside area, trash removal, and restocking of restrooms, breakrooms, and trash bins. The Custodian is expected to perform custodial duties in accordance with established standards and procedures. This individual will report to the Operations Manager, Harrisburg for updates, progress, risks, and issues. Starting pay rate is approximately $14.85 per hour, based on experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining cleanliness of lobby and other common areas
  • Sweeping, mopping, scrubbing floors and stairs
  • Washing child bedding and supplemental clothes when soiled
  • Vacuuming floors
  • Cleaning and dusting furniture and other surfaces
  • Cleaning and servicing lavatories, break rooms
  • Cleaning windows
  • Cleaning up spills
  • Providing trash collection and assist in recycling (general areas and classroom)
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or a general educational development (GED) certificate
  • 1 year experience in a janitorial or custodial position
  • Able to physically interact with children. Must stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, reach above shoulders, bend climb stairs and or move/pick up items of up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
  • Basic understanding of cleaning and sanitation procedures.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions

  • U.S. work authorization and successful completion of pre-employment background checks and clearances
